About Novy Mir Productions
Novy Mir Productions is a small press publishing house, specialising in releasing idiosyncratic works in print and CD formats. Our philosophy is basically to promote works which do not belong to a common genre, or at the very least, utilise generic tropes to create a new effect. We intend to support and promote artists who are either largely unknown, or underrated in some way.
The name is derived from two sources - one from a Russian literary magazine which operated during the Stalin years (and, I recently discovered, is operating again) and also New Worlds the speculative fiction magazine which, when under the editorship of Michael Moorcock expanded the boundaries of fiction in a concentrated burst of energy that the literary world has yet to see the like of again.
Novy Mir Productions has been unofficially operating on-a part-time basis for several years now, and as such, we have spent much time honing skills, learning new ones, and developing an individual creative identity. In mid-2001 we finally officially opened the business and are now working on a full-time basis.
